Owen Bezick
Technical Start-Up Founder. Automation Engineer. Dashboard Developer.
Dog-Dad. Fisherman. Bogey-Golfer.
Professional Background
I started college wanting to study chemistry; however, after taking my first Computer Science class, I quickly pivoted. After that, it was all Math & CS and I found a niche in creating data-driven dashboards to automate reporting functions. This skill lead me into the gig-economy and then start-up world. I am also passionate about Cyber Security, specifically the intersection between tech and incident response.
My Start-Up, GatherWare, Inc.
An integrated strategic, facility and capital planning tool for healthcare systems that leverages big data to align capital and facility resources with business strategy. Cofounded with founder of NISSA Consulting Nicolas Braco out of The Hurt Hub @ Davidson. We were the judge-selected winner of the 2021 Nisbet Venture Fund competition.
Automation Engineering
I work with Blackpanda, Asia's premier digital forensics and incident response firm, as an Automation Engineer. In this part-time role, I automate operations and data collection roles using Python and AWS functions to create efficiencies wherever possible.
Freelance Dashboard Development
Using my software engineering and data analysis skills, I freelance as a dashboard developer for businesses, colleges, and other organizations - once for the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Here is an example of a dashboard for the College Crisis Initiative. I teach a class on EdX on developing dashboards using R Shiny.
Personal Background
I grew up in Delray Beach, Florida spending summers fishing and playing lacrosse. Then I moved to North Carolina to attend Davidson College where I graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Data Science. I currently reside in Lake Norman, North Carolina where when I am not working I like to golf, hike with my dog, practice hot yoga, and fly fish.
